Roadrunners baseball recaps April 25 and 28

April 25, Wentworth Military Academy at Dey Field, Liberty Park Stadium

SFCC defeated the Red Dragons from Wentworth Military Academy 18-1 in seven innings. The Roadrunners scored three runs in the first inning. Wentworth scored its only run in the top of the second inning. The Roadrunners scored five runs in the second, two in the fourth, three in the fifth, and finished scoring with five in the sixth. 

SFCC had 13 hits Sophomore Tanner Cantrell led the Roadrunners with three hits. He scored three times, drove in a run and hit a homerun. Freshman Zack Ehlen contributed two hits, a team-high three RBIs and a run scored. Freshman Jacob Clifton had two hits, scored four runs and drove in one. Freshman D.J. McNew added two hits, drove in two runs and scored a run. 

Freshman Steven Bradbury had two hits and drove in two runs. Freshman Kenneth Prado drove in two runs. Freshman Chris De Los Santos drove in one run, and freshman Chase Swisher scored three runs. 

Freshman Tyler Fennewald pitched three innings, giving up four hits and one earned run to earn the victory. 

April 28, Hesston College at Hesston, Kansas

SFCC split a doubleheader with the Larks of Hesston College. The Larks won the first game 8-2, and SFCC bounced back to win the second game 10-4. 

In game one, the Larks scored first with four runs in the bottom of the first inning. They added one run in the third and one in the fourth. SFCC scored two runs in the top of the sixth. Hesston added two runs in the bottom of the sixth to close the scoring in game one. 

Ehlen led the Roadrunners with two hits and a run scored. Freshman Tyler Crane had a hit and a run scored. Cantrell and Prado each contributed a hit and an RBI.  

Sophomore Payton Rawlins was SFCC's starting pitcher. He pitched 2/3 of an inning, allowing four hits and four earned runs. He took the loss. 

In game two, Hesston scored first with a run in the bottom of the first inning and added a run in the second. SFCC scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning to tie the game at two. Hesston took the lead back in the bottom of the inning with two runs to lead 4-2. SFCC exploded for seven runs in the fifth inning to take the lead and added a run in the sixth. 

Clifton and McNew led SFCC with two hits each. Clifton also contributed two runs scored and an RBI. McNew had two runs scored, two RBIs and a homerun. Cantrell had two RBIs and a run scored. Bradbury had a hit, a run scored and two RBIs. SFCC had 10 hits in the game. 

Starting pitcher was freshman Jake McMahill. He pitched 1 2/3 innings allowing three hits, two runs and one earned run. He struck out three. Freshman Josiah Imhoff picked up the win in relief for SFCC. He pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing two runs and one earned run. 

The Roadrunners record stands at 23-25.
