Strong Blue Devils Defense Leads to Win Over Metropolitan, 74-61

The Kansas City Kansas Community College women's basketball team (6-5) took down the Metropolitan Wolves (2-8) 74-61 Tuesday night at Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley. The Blue Devils defense forced 30 total turnovers from the Wolves.

Jada Johnson led the Blue Devils with 19 points and ended the night with seven rebounds, four steals and one assist. This marks the fourth consecutive game that Johnson has led the team in points scored. Kaylyn Rogers had a season-high 15 points along with eight rebounds, four steals and two assists. Symiah Bradley tallied 13 points and had three rebounds and a block. Alexis Dukes came off the bench and scored nine points with a team-high nine rebounds and four assists.

The Wolves offense was led by Tyana Evans who had 15 points, and Kennedi Rowland had a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Amaya Barnes played every minute of the game and went 5-8 from the field and ended the night with 11 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

For the game, the Blue Devils shot 41.3 percent from the field (26-63), 35.3 percent from three-point range (6-17) and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line (16-24). The Wolves shot 42.1 percent from the field (24-57), 18.8 percent from three-point range (3-16) and 55.6 percent from the free-throw line (10-18). The Wolves and Blue Devils both had 38 rebounds, but the Blue Devils outscored the Wolves 40 to 30 in the paint.  

The next game for the Lady Blue Devils is against the State Fair Roadrunners at 2 p.m. Dec. 9 at State Fair Community College.
