The Highland Scotties got their 4
th win at home and 5
th win of the season on Saturday afternoon as they defeated the Iowa Western Reivers 24-15 at Kessinger Field.

The Scotties, now (5-3) overall and 2-3 in conference play, were looking to get back on track having not won a game since September 24
th at home against Hutchinson CC.

Iowa Western struck first after a botched punt by the Scotties set the Reivers up with a short field. The Reivers scored on an AJ Bush rushing touchdown. A missed extra point would give Iowa Western a 6-0 lead halfway through the 1
st quarter.

On the ensuing possession, Highland sophomore
Bailey Strunk came up with a 45-yard reception on 3
rd down. That would set up a 6-yard
Marquis Terry touchdown, his 10
th of the season. The Scotties came up short on the 2-point conversion and the game was tied 6-6 with 4:52 left in the quarter.

The Reivers would find the end zone for the second time on another AJ Bush run. The extra point by Bobby Patterson was good and the Reivers led the Scotties 13-6 with 12:07 to play in the first half.

A bad snap by Highland would lead to a safety giving the Reivers a 15-6 lead with 1:37 to play in the half.

After a Highland punt, the Reivers were knocking on the door for the third time in the half. The Scottie defense came up with a stop as
Brandon Berry forced a fumble and
Jeremiah Hill was able to recover it on their own 7-yard line with one-minute left in the half. Highland headed into the locker room down 6-15.

Highland found the end zone after a 34-yard rushing touchdown by
Ra'Quanne Dickens. Another failed 2-point conversion got the Scotties within three. The Reivers led 15-12 with 9:18 to play in the 3
rd quarter.

Dominique Williams interception with 6:35 to play in the 3
rd really got the momentum going for the Scotties.
Kahlil Render marched his team down the field and capped off the drive with 6-yard
Marquis Terry touchdown run. Highland took their first lead of the game 18-15 with 3:03 to go in the 3
rd quarter.

A missed 45-yard field goal by the Reivers gave Highland the ball on their own 27 with 13:20 to play.

Later in the quarter the Scotties were faced with a 3
rd long. They handed the ball off to Terry who broke four tackles and drug on defender for a Highland first down. A few plays later,
Marquis Terry broke loose for a 29-yard touchdown run. His third of the game and 12
th of the year. Ranking him #1 in the KJCCC in rushing touchdowns and #5 in the Nation. That run also put sophomore running back
Marquis Terry over the 1,000 career yard mark. Highland led the Reivers 24-15 with 56 seconds to play.

Iowa Western was unable to put points on the board and the Scotties won the game 24-15; their first ever win over the Reivers.

This win makes the Scotties 4-0 at home and 5-3 overall this season. They travel to Fort Scott CC on Saturday, October 29 to take on the Greyhounds at 7:00pm.
