Lady Saints with a road victory over Coffeyville

COFFEYVILLE, Kan. - Seward County Community College women's basketball team defeats Coffeyville Community College 63-54 on Saturday to remain undefeated at 3-0 on the season. The Lady Saints' largest lead of the game was 22 points but in the fourth quarter, the Ravens went on a 10-0 run and made it one pocession game at 47-44. After a couple of three-point shots, Seward was able to regain a ten-point lead to hold off Coffeyville for the road victory.

In the first quarter, Seward struggled to get shots to connect but was able to create offense from their defensive stops. Lady Saints led 11 to 7 with 4:46 remaining and the Ravens responded with a 7-3 run to close out the first quarter to tie it at 14 all. To start the second quarter Seward went on a 10-0 run in the first three minutes to lead 24 to 14. The Lady Saints took a 38 to 21 advantage at halftime.

To begin the third quarter Seward took their largest lead of the game 43-21 with their defense creating opportunities for quick points. Lady Saints closed the quarter with a 49-35 advantage. Coffeyville quickly responded with a 10-0 run in the first two minutes of the fourth quarter to dwindle Seward's lead to just 49-45. Lady Saints weathered the storm and took a 58-48 lead with two and half minutes remaining and held off the final push by Coffeyville. 

The Lady Saints will be back in action on Wednesday (February 10th, 2021) at Neosho Community College with tip-off scheduled for 6 pm.
