No. 18 Blue Devils Smoke Labette, 10-0 and 20-2

The Kansas City Kansas Community College baseball team (25-3) took down Labette Community College (9-18) 10-0 and 20-2 Mar. 28 at the KCKCC baseball field. Before the first game, the new turf at the KCKCC baseball field was celebrated with a ribbon cutting. KCKCC President Dr. Greg Mosier and KCKCC Athletic Director Greg McVey, both spoke on how meaningful and excited they are that the program will be able to utilize the new turf that has been installed.

In the first game, Gehrig Goldbeck delivered a standout performance with two hits in three at-bats, including a crucial RBI. Peyton Basler contributed to the offensive effort with two hits in four at-bats. Jase Woita made his presence felt with two hits, including an RBI and a double in three at-bats. Brady Patterson had a solid outing with two doubles, including a pivotal two-run RBI, in four at-bats. Frankie Santiago also provided a spark with two doubles and two runs scored in three at-bats. Marcus Dierks emerged as a standout performer with three hits, including two RBIs, in four at-bats. He also recorded one of the six Blue Devil doubles.

Maclane Finley went the distance and gave up just one hit to the Cardinals. Finley recorded four walks and three strikeouts in the first game.

For the second game, Goldbeck showcased his prowess with a remarkable three hits in four at-bats, tallying two runs and two RBIs. He also had two triples and a double. Basler demonstrated his ability to get on base, earning two walks and contributing two runs and two RBIs with one double in two at-bats. Despite not recording any hits, Jackson Mervosh's keen eye at the plate resulted in three walks, helping to advance the team's scoring opportunities. Woita had an exceptional outing with three hits in five at-bats, driving in an impressive five runs. Brady Kern went two for three recording two runs and two RBIs. Both John Caime and Levi Martin went perfect at the plate going two for two and added five RBIs. Santiago had one hit which was a solo home run and got walked once.

Mason Davenport threw for 4.2 innings and allowed just one hit and struck out eight Cardinals. Will Bartkoski and Carson Rosen came in and pitched the remaining 2.1 innings and allowed four hits and two runs.
