Balanced effort leads Lady Tigers to 76-50 home win

Led by five players in double figures, the Cowley College women's basketball team improved its record to 4-0 on the season with a 76-50 victory over the Bethany College JV Monday night inside W.S. Scott Auditorium.

Leading just 14-11 after one-quarter of play, sophomore forward Anna Przyszlak hit back-to-back three-pointers to open the second quarter, and Cowley would take a commanding 45-23 halftime lead. Przyszlak erupted for 17 of her game-high 21 points in the second quarter and already had a double-double by halftime. She would finish with 21 points and 14 rebounds.

"I thought Anna played really well and rebounded the ball on both ends of the floor," Cowley head coach Todd Clark said.

The Lady Tigers' lead would grow to 62-34 after three-quarters of play, and Cowley would lead by as many as 31 points in the win.

Freshman Jaiden Smith added 15 points and seven rebounds, while Destiny Yates came off the bench to score 13 points.

"Jaiden has been really solid to start the season, and Destiny gave us huge minutes off the bench," Clark said.

Fellow freshmen Hattie Pyle (12 points, six rebounds) and Aiyanna Big Man (11 points, six assists, five rebounds, and four steals) rounded out Cowley players in double figures.

Becca Unruh led the Swedes with 14 points and five rebounds.

Cowley will now prepare for its first road test as they will play at Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

The Lady Mavericks are 1-1 on the season after splitting a pair of games against Kansas Jayhawk Conference teams. NOC lost 88-87 in overtime at Independence and defeated Cloud County 83-67 at home on Saturday.

"It is going to be a tough environment to play in, but we are looking forward to the challenge," Clark said.
