OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Entering Wednesday evening's match with Hesston, the Johnson County women's soccer team had outscored the Larks 58-to-1 in the previous five meetings. That total increased to 67-to-1 after the Cavaliers blasted Hesston 9-0 at the JCCC Soccer Complex. Their nine goals are the most since a 9-0 win over Garden City on May 1, 2021.

The 10th-ranked Cavaliers scored early and often highlighted by a hat trick by freshman forward Karsen Koehler (Lake Ridge/Masfield, Texas), the 111th all-time in team history. Koehler started the scoring in the 10th minute and made it 2-nil five minutes later. She completed the hat trick in the 40th minute to put JCCC up 5-0 at the half.  Koehler also provided an assist on the fourth goal.

Last week's KJCC D-II Player of the Week Lotta Meindl (Friedrichsdorf, Germany) netted two goals. Sophomore midfielder Alandra Bailey (Washburn Rural/Topeka, Kan.) scored a goal and assisted on two others. Freshman midfielder Brenley Cunningham (Gardner-Egerton/Gardner, Kan.) and freshman forward Jenna Knight (Bonner Springs/Edwardsville, Kan.) each had a goal and an assist. Sophomore midfielder Avleen Kang registered two assists and sophomore midfielder Sydney Hammett (Lee's Summit West/Lee's Summit, Mo.) and sophomore forward Emma Le (Fort Osage/Independence, Mo.) each were credited with an assist.

Freshman goalkeeper Frankie Williams (Manchester, England) picked up her third shutout and third victory of the season saving all three shots she faced. Her three shutouts rank second in the conference and tied for fourth in the NJCAA.

Johnson County outshot Hesston 54-to-6 and 27-to-3 in shots on goal.

Johnson County (6-2-1/2-0-1) travels to Pratt (2-3-1/1-2-0) on Saturday for a conference tilt. The Cavaliers have never lost to the Beavers, winning all six previous matches. In fact, JCCC has never given up a goal to Pratt in the series, outscoring the Beavers 31-to-0. Their last meeting was a 9-0 blowout on October 3, 2015.
