Scotties EarnTwo More Wins on the Road over Hesston

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Scotties traveled to Hesston, Kansas to take on the Hesston Larks in their final region game and second to last regular season game for 2018. The Scotties maintained a 2-0 lead through the first four innings but after a run by the Larks in the fifth, Highland put three more on the board to secure a 5-1 win. The Scotties found themselves down 4-1 through four innings but got hot in the fifth and sixth scoring 10 runs to finish the game early 13-5.

GAME ONE
Freshman pitcher Raegen Hamm is now 15-0 after throwing all seven innings in game one with four strike-outs on the day. Sydney Anderson saw the plate four, being walked twice, and hitting a home run the other two at bats with four RBI's. Alyssa Wesley hit a home run of her own on three plate appearances and one RBI. Kelly Uthe, after being out for an injury, is back on the field for the Scotties going two for two in game one to help the 5-1 win.

GAME TWO
Highland started off game two ahead of the Larks 2-0 but the Larks defended their field to take a 4-1 and kept that up until the fifth inning where the Scotties would take a 7-5 lead. Two, three-run home runs were hit in the sixth by Anderson and Sara Shinn to take a 13-5 lead to end the game after the sixth. Wesley went two for four scoring two runs and two RBI's. Aubry Hernandez had a consistent showing going three for three with two runs scored and one RBI. Alexis Hodapp and Sam Moran both had two hits in the game, scoring three total runs.
Julisa Ortega started the game seeing 12 batters in 1.2 innings. Haley Donaldson came in to end the second and finishing the game with three strike-outs on 15 batters.

#7 Highland Softball is now 28-7 overall and 17-5 in conference play, seated second behind Cowley. They will host their final regular season play on Monday, April 23rd against MCC-Maple Woods with the first pitch scheduled for 2:00.
