Blue Devils Drop Contest to Iowa Central, 69-63

The Kansas City Kansas Community College women's basketball team (2-2) lost a close game to the Iowa Central Tritons 69-63 Nov. 11 at Hy-Vee Arena. Jada Johnson led the way with 27 points along with nine rebounds.

Kaylyn Rogers scored 12 points and went 6-10 at the free-throw line while bringing down eight rebounds. Rogers and Johnson were the only two Blue Devils in double figures and had 39 of the 63 Blue Devils points.

The Blue Devils were only down one point heading into halftime and would eventually tie the game with 5:54 left in the third quarter, but could never take the lead. Both teams made 22 field goals, but the Tritons converted 7-20 from behind the arc compared to the Blue Devils 3-16.

This is the second consecutive game that sophomore guard, Jada Johnson shot 50 percent or better from the field (11-20). She now leads the Blue Devils in points per game, averaging 23 on the season.

The Blue Devils are set to face the University of Saint Mary JV for the second time this season at 6 p.m. Nov 14 at Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley.
