Men's Soccer Set for Conference Debut at Neosho

The Beaver men's soccer team is set for their conference debut this Saturday, September 2 at Neosho County in Chanute, KS. Pratt is sitting at 1-0-1 through August with a win against Tabor College (JV) and a tie this past week against NOC-Enid. The team also defeated Southwestern College 1-0 in a scrimmage back on August 21.

"I have been quite pleased with what we have done so far," said Head Men's Soccer Coach Kevin Kewley. "The downside is we have picked up a couple of injuries that could hurt us, but that is why you have a big squad. We had a good test the other night against Enid, and we went through well. We played great defensively, but I am still a bit worried about where the goals are going to come from. I think when the opposition is better, we play better when challenged.

Neosho County has only played one game this season and it resulted in a 2-1 loss against Hawkeye Community College. Last season the team finished 11-6 overall and 5-2 in conference play. The team finished first in the KJCCC D1 East division and lost to Cowley 6-1 in the NJCAA Region VI semifinals. Pratt leads 3-2 in the overall series between the two teams.

"Playing Neosho and Allen right off the bat is going to be tough," said Coach Kewley. "I think if we get two good results then we are in good shape and if we don't it is not the end of the world as we get to play everybody twice."
