In a rough week for Barton softball overall, Emilia Davies did all she could to help the Cougars batting .688 for the week going 11-16 with seven RBIs.  Blasting two home runs in the Cougars 10-9 loss to Garden City, the sophomore from Colorado also hit three doubles in Friday’s game against KWU junior varsity giving her seven extra-base hits in her sixteen at-bats.  The week’s effort also raised Davies’ average from .364 to .437 (31-71) while leading the team in runs, doubles, triples, and total bases and ranks in the top three in most other offensive categories for the Lady Cougars.   Weekly Stats

Sophomore centerfielder Holly Wilmarth helped the Highland Lady Scotties win seven of eight games on the week by batting .560 (14-of-25) with six home runs and 16 runs batted in. She had two multi-homer games and scored 11 runs.

Seward sophomore Becky Allen had another big week for Seward on their annual Spring Break trip to Phoenix, Arizona over the past seven days.  Allen hit .474 and slugged 1.053 in six Lady Saint games, drilling 2 doubles, 3 home runs, and driving in 8 runs.  Monday against Lake Region State she helped the Lady Saints break numerous school records in a 29-0 romp, going 4 for 4 with 2 doubles, a home run, and 4 RBI’s while also scoring 5 runs for Seward.  In their final game of the week she was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI’s and another home run as Seward snuck past Mesa 5-2.

Wilson struck out 22 batters in 17 innings as she went 2-1 on the week. Wilson struck out 13 in a complete game win over Dodge City and then punched out nine more in a win over Baton Rouge (La.). She currently leads the NJCAA Division II in strikeouts.

Lady Saint freshman Jaclyn Wagner rose to the occasion for the gals in green this week, winning both games she pitched in on Seward’s annual Spring Break trip to Phoenix, Arizona.  Monday against Lake Region State she was nearly perfect, allowing only a first inning single in a complete game shutout while striking out a career high 10 in the process.  Thursday against Mesa she twirled another complete game, this time knocking off the T-Birds 4-3 as she allowed just 2 earned runs in the win.   Weekly Stats
