Barton sophomore first baseman Nolan Riley led the Cougars to a conference opening sweep of Garden City with a .647 on-base percentage in batting .583 with a flawless eighteen chances at first base.  Batting .500 in the opening day sweep, Riley finished the weekend strong with a 4-for-4 performance out of the three-hole including a sixth inning leadoff walk followed later in the inning with an RBI triple helping Barton turn a three run deficit into a nine run frame in the series clincher.

Cloud County sophomore Austen Seidel highlighted what was a strong series for Cloud County starting pitching as he tossed a one-hit, complete-game shutout in the series opener against Pratt.  Seidel, an early signee to Wichita State University, carried a perfect game into the sixth inning, with a questionable error call and a one-out single in the top of the seventh the only blemishes on his final line that included no walks and nine strikeouts.
