Hutchinson freshman Zane Schmidt tied a Blue Dragon single-game record and hit a walk-off home run with one swing of the bat. Schmidt hit his third home run of the game, a two-run walk-off winner to help Hutchinson defeat Garden City 8-7 in Game 1 of their four-game series over the weekend. Schmidt was 3 for 5 with six RBIs and three runs scored. Schmidt tied Michael Helman's single-game record with three homers in one game. His six RBIs tied for fifth most in a single game. Schmidt hit four home runs in the series and drove in eight while hitting .400 (8 for 20). 

Seward County sophomore right-hander Tanner King threw a complete game two-hit shutout against Barton County. King threw a no-hitter for 6.1 innings pitched. He also struck out seven batters. 

Colby sophomore right-hander Logan Hoffman struck out 12 batters over six innings on his way to a 12-2 win over Butler. He allowed just two earned runs off five hits.
