(KJCCC) May 25, 2021 -- Freshman pitchers and position players gave elite performances in the conference races this year, as Levi Bennett of Allen and Alex Cook of Colby headlined the 2021 KJCCC All-Conference selections.
While Wyatt Grant of Seward County was the sole sophomore to garner one of the top honors (Jayhawk West Most Valuable Player), the other awards went to freshmen.
The KJCCC East Most Valuable Player was Bennett, who was first team all-conference at third base as well as first team coming in as a reliever. Bennett was also KJCCC East Freshman of the Year.
Grant was the West MVP, and shortstop Jonah Cox of Butler was named Freshman of the Year. Colby starter Cook was named the West's Pitcher of the Year.
J'Briell Easley of Cowley was named the Pitcher of the Year, and his head coach, Darren Burroughs, was selected as coach of the year for the KJCCC East.
Mike Davidson, Seward County, was tabbed as the Jayhawk West Coach of the Year.
For 2021, the KJCCC baseball squads participated in four Region VI sub-regionals, with the winners advancing to the NJCAA Plains District Regional Tournament. KJCCC East champion Cowley won the district title, and will represent the region and conference at the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction CO.
