KJCCC Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, Week 11

KJCCC Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, Week 11

Player of the Week:  Aidan Proctor – Dodge City Community College
Dodge City baseball team put together a 4-2 week sweep Otero in a non-conference doubleheader and split a KJCCC series with Butler in four tight contests. Aidan Proctor has a monster week for the Conquistadors going 12-24 with 12 runs scored, 10 RBI, three home runs, eight stolen bases, and two walks in six games. His three home runs were the first of his college career, while with his eight stolen bases he is now sixth in career stolen bases at Dodge City with 27. Four of the six games he recorded two hits or more in including a four-hit game in the series finale against Butler and opened the week going 3-3 with three runs scored, three RBI, and his first career home run with also two walks against Otero. On the season Proctor leads the team with a .396 batting average as he has 42 hits, 37 runs scored, 17 RBI, 11 walks, eight doubles, four triples, three home runs, and 20 stolen bases.

Pitcher of the Week: Conner Woods – Cloud County Community College
Cloud County's closer sophomore Conner Woods would be tasked with a different job this past weekend, starting game two of a four-game series against Seward County. Not only would Woods make the most of the opportunity on the mound, but the Winfield, Kansas native would pick up his third win of the year by throwing a complete-game one-hit shutout to allow CCCC to sweep a Thursday doubleheader. With a no-hitter in tact and Seward County down to their final out, Woods would see Cloud County's first complete game no-hit bid since 1999 come to an end with a single back up the middle. Following the two-out single, Woods would induce a pop out to end the game and finish by facing just two batters over the minimum (the other coming on an error) and strike out a career-high 11 batters.
