FORT SCOTT, HUTCH, BUTLER PLAYERS HONORS IN WEEK 8

KJCCC Football Players of the Week:
Offense: Jon Jiles, Fort Scott
Defense: Lavar Gardner, Hutchinson
Special Teams: JaQuez Durham, Butler

This week's KJCCC Football players of the week honors two first-time players for offense and defense and a repeat honoree on special teams. Fort Scott Receiver Jon Jiles was named the Offensive Player of the Week. Hutchinson linebacker Lavar Gardner is the Defensive Player of the Week and Butler, JaQuez Durham was the Special Teams Player of the Week.

OFFENSIVE - Jon Jiles, Fort Scott
Fort Scott sophomore receiver Jon Jiles made seven catches for 140 yards and two touchdowns as the Greyhounds defeated Ellsworth 36-0 on Saturday. Jiles is first in the KJCCC in receptions with 41, first in total receiving yards, 574, first in receivin yards per game, 81.4 and second in touchdown receptions, two.

DEFENSIVE - Lavar Gardner, Hutchinson
Sophomore linebacker Lavar Gardner reached double figures in tackles for the fifth time in seven games this season in leading a strong defensive effort by the No. 4 Blue Dragons on a 49-7 home win over Coffeyville. Gardner had four tackles for loss, including one quarterback sack. He also recovered a fumble with Coffeyville threatening in the first quarter.

SPECIAL TEAMS - JaQuez Durham, Butler
JaQuez Durham, sophomore return specialist, took his second punt return of the season to the house Saturday with an electrifying 94-yard punt return in the third quarter. With no blockers in front of him, Durham fielded the football at his own six-yard line and made his way up the home sideline. After a quick move and breaking a few tackles Durham took off up the sideline 94-yards for the score. He had three other punt returns in the game with an average of 24 yards per return.
