KJCCC FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK - WEEK 2

Players from Hutchinson, Dodge City and Butler were tapped as Jayhawk Conference Football Players of the Week for the second week of the 2023 season.

Hutchinson running back Tyrell Reed Jr. was the league's Offensive Player of the Week after a huge performance against Ellsworth. Dodge City defensive back Moses Sarweh led a strong Conquistador effort in a road win at Coffeyville. Butler return specialist Russell Wilkey had a return for touchdown in a Grizzly victory over Highland.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Tyrell Reed Jr., Hutchinson
Hutchinson freshman running back Tyrell Reed Jr. rushed for 171 yards and three touchdowns in No. 1 Hutchinson's 72-7 victory over Ellsworth on Saturday at Gowans Stadium. Reed carried the ball just nine time and averaged 19.0 yards per carry. He scored on touchdown runs of 26, 69 and 20 yards and had four carries of 20 or more yards in the game.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Moses Sarweh, Dodge City
Dodge City football won its season-opening KJCCC contest for the first time since 2015 as the Conquistadors took down Coffeyville 26-17 on the road and the defense was strong for the Conquistadors holding Coffeyville to just 215 total yards. Moses Sarweh was a standout defensively for the Conquistadors recording nine tackles, with two tackles for loss including a sack. The sophomore transfer was impactful not only in the passing game at safety but also playing downhill and making plays around the line of scrimmage. For the season, Sarweh has 12 tackles with two tackles for loss and a sack.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Russell Wilkey, Butler
Butler's Russell Wilkey had a 40-yard punt return for a touchdown where he tracked a shanked punt up in front of everyone, caught it and took off for the score. He averaged 26.5 yards per return on his two returns with the other being a solid 13-yard return that set the Grizzlies up with nice field position as Butler defeated Highland 38-19.
