KJCCC FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK - WEEK 7

After a 46-10 victory over No. 11 Dodge City on Saturday, the No. 1-ranked Hutchinson Community College football team swept Jayhawk Conference Football Player of the Week honors.

Blue Dragon running back Tyrell Reed Jr. was the Offensive Player of the Week. Defensive end Daniel Brown earned Defensive Player of the Week honors and kicker Nestus Burger was Special Teams Player of the Week.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Tyrell Reed Jr., Hutchinson
Reed Jr. had his third 100-yard game of the season and helped the No. 1 Blue Dragons defeat No. 11 Dodge City 43-10. Reed had just 10 touches, but scored four touchdowns and ran for 115 yards or 11.5 yards per carry. Reed had touchdown runs of 5, 6, 22 and 71 yards. He is the first Blue Dragon with four rushing touchdowns in a game since EJ Emmons in 2017. This is the second-straight week and third time this season Reed has been selected as Offenisve Player of the Week.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Daniel Brown, Hutchinson
Brown improved his nation-leading quarterback sack total to 10 with three sacks and four tackles for loss to lead the No. 1 Blue Dragons to a 46-10 victory over No. 11 Dodge City Saturday at Gowans Stadium. Brown finished with eight total tackles, including four solo stops. Brown has had five sacks in the last two games – wins over No. 10 Butler and No. 11 Dodge City.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Nestus Burger, Hutchinson
Burger broke a Blue Dragon record with a 50-yard field goal in a 46-10 win over No. 11 Dodge City. Burger capped a dominant 26-point second quarter with his 50-yard field goal. That broke the old record of 48 yards by Sebastian Garcia in 2018.
