COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The NJCAA Board of Directors and member college presidents elected four new representatives last week at the 73rd NJCAA Annual Meeting. Bryce Roderick – NJCAA President
Moving up from his current position as NJCAA Second Vice President for Women, Roderick will take over the role from retiring NJCAA President Joe Tubb on August 1. Roderick is set to become the 18th president in the organization’s 76-year history and the first to hail from the Sunflower State.
Serving as the NJCAA Second Vice President for Women since 2008, Roderick’s efforts have led to dramatic advancements in both women’s and two-year collegiate athletics. His leadership has also led to streamlining the championship bid process and significant improvement to officiating at national championships. Roderick joined the NJCAA Board of Directors in 1996 when he was elected Region 6 Women’s Director – a position he held before being elected as Second Vice President for Women 12 years later. In 2013, Roderick’s contributions to volleyball were recognized when he was inducted into the NJCAA Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Prior to becoming commissioner of the KJCCC in 2003, Roderick spent 12 years as the athletic director at Garden City (Kan.). A former official for multiple sports – including track and field, football and wrestling – Roderick was inducted into the Kansas Collegiate Officials Hall of Fame in 2013 and formerly was a member of the USA Track and Field Board of Directors. Michelle Ruble – NJCAA Second Vice President for
Women
Replacing Bryce Roderick, College of Southern Maryland director of student life and athletics Michelle Ruble was elected as the new NJCAA Second Vice President for Women. Ruble is only the eighth individual to hold this position since 1975 when the NJCAA became the nation’s first co-ed collegiate athletics association to form a women’s division.
Ruble joined the NJCAA Board of Directors in 2002 when she was elected Region 20 Women’s Director. She currently serves as the co-chair for the Nominations and Elections committee and is vice chair for Women’s Lacrosse. Ruble was formerly the committee chair for Women’s Lacrosse, Swimming and Diving and was a member of the Executive Committee. In 2011, Ruble was named to the Executive Committee of the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA).
Beginning her career in athletics in 1991, Ruble was hired as head volleyball coach at Southern Maryland where she was named Coach of the Year by the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference in 2002 and 2010. She was promoted to athletic director in 2001 and was named the conference’s 2002-03 Athletic Director of the Year. In 2007, Southern Maryland promoted Ruble to Director of Student Life and Athletics. As a volleyball player at Elon University, Ruble was a three-year captain and an Academic All-American. Dr. Bill Campion – Southwest District Presidential
Representative
With over 40 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Bill Campion was elected by Regions 1, 2, 5 and 14 as the Southwest District Presidential Representative to the NJCAA. Campion is the President of Ranger College which has three campuses in Ranger, Early and Stephenville, Texas. He also served as college president at Trinity Valley Community College (Texas), College of Central Florida, El Paso Community College (Texas) and Eastern Oklahoma State College. Campion’s professional background also includes serving as Dean of Students, Dean of the College, Director of Financial Aid and Student Recruitment, Director of Admissions and Head Basketball Coach. Dr. Robert Exley – Southeast District Presidential

In the Southeast District, Regions
8, 17, 22 and 23 elected Dr. Robert Exley of Snead State Community
College (Ala.) as their new Presidential Representative. Before
arriving at Snead State, Exley served as President of Parkland
College (Ill.) and was the Vice President for Academic Affairs at
Iowa Western Community College. He also held a variety of
administrative positions at Miami Dade College (Fla.) where he
established the institution’s national recognized
service-learning program. As a professor, Exley instructed at Iowa
State University, the University of Houston-Clear Lake, San Jacinto
College (Texas), Miami Dade College and currently teaches graduate
courses for the University of Alabama. Exley’s collegiate
education began at NJCAA-member institution San Jacinto College
where he earned his associate of arts. He later obtained his
bachelor’s degree from Houston-Clear Lake and a Ph. D. from
the University of Texas where he was honored as a distinguished
graduate in 2007 for his contributions to American two-year
