J.J. Rhymes turned in a tremendous week where he posted a career high and hit the game-winning shot in the largest comeback in Hutchinson Blue Dragon history. For the week, Rhymes averaged 27.5 points per game in victories over Butler and Barton while shooting 66.7 percent from the floor and 40 percent from 3-point range. Against Butler, Rhymes' 41 points tied for the fifth-most points scored in team history, scoring 32 points in the second half as Hutch rallied from 26 points down in the first half, 25 early in the second half. Still trailing by 2 in the final seconds, Rhymes got a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to fall to complete the comeback. Against Barton, Rhymes was closely defended all night, but he still scored 14 points and had five assists against the Cougars.
Sophomore Holden Redparth has been a consistent force for the 11-4 Highland Scotties recording his 3rd double-double this season against Central CC – Columbus at the Southeast CC Tournament scoring a season-high in points (29) and rebounds (13), making 19-20 free throws. He is currently second in the KJCCC averaging 19.1 ppg, shooting 91.2% ft/g, with 6.7 reb/g. Redparth has scored in double-digits in 14 of their 15 games thus far with a field goal shooting average of 38.9%.
