KJCCC Men's Division II Basketball Athlete of the Week, Week 4

The #7 ranked Highland men's basketball team moved to 8-0 on the season picking up a 103-74 win over University of Saint Mary JV during Thanksgiving break. Scotties surpassed the century mark as a team for the third time this season using a strong second half to secure the road win over USM JV and Luiz Machado Jr. paced Highland in the win with his best game of the season posting 23 points on 6-13 shooting, hitting a pair of three's and going 9-12 from the free throw line. Machado added nine rebounds and two assists in road win. On the season Machado is one of three Scotties averaging double figures posting 11.1 points per game, while shooting 46.2% from the floor and has added 3.9 rebounds per game.

Johnson County Community College sophomore guard Nick Larkin averaged 12.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0 steals over three games of action last week, helping the Cavaliers go 2-1 and improve to 7-2 overall on the season. Larkin shot 46 percent from the field and 79 percent from the free throw line.
