KJCCC Men's Division II Basketball Athlete of the Week, Week 6

The #3 Highland men's basketball team continue their best start ever under Head Coach Jerre Cole with multiple guys contributing to a 14-0 record after three wins last week. Sophomore, Tristen Hull helped lead the way for the Scotties in the wins as it started with a career best 19 points on 8-10 shooting against Graceland JV in a 112-65 win. Hull added six rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks in the win over Graceland JV. The Scotties competed in tournament action over the weekend in Beatrice, Nebraska and held on for a tough 73-71 win over Central CC-Columbus and beat Southeast CC 88-54. Hull against Central CC posted 11 points adding five rebounds and four steals; was one of only two Scotties in double figures. Versus Southeast, Hull had his third straight double figure performance and seventh on the season posting 15 points on 5-7 shooting and 5-8 from the free throw line. Hull also had his second double-double of the season as he grabbed 12 rebounds in the win. On the season he is averaging 10.7 points per game on 61.8% shooting, while shooting 76.9% from the free throw line and adding 6.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He leads the team in field goal and free throw percentage, along with rebounds. 

Johnson County Community College sophomore guard Nick Larkin averaged a double-double last week of 11.5 points and 10.0 assists in two blowout wins for the Cavaliers. He also averaged 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals and shot 58 percent from the field.  In a 104-74 win at North Central Missouri, Larkin had eight points, dished out 14 assists and had four steals. His 14 assists tie the eighth-best single game in team history. He followed with a team-high 15 points, five rebounds and six assists to lead the Cavalier to 103-60 home win over MCC-Penn Valley.
