Garden City freshman shootin guard Tahlik Chavez continued his unbelievable freshman season last week and was named the 14th different KJCCC Men's Division I Player of the Week recipient in as many weeks.
The Texas-native scored a career-high 42 points, helping Garden City crawl out of a 24-point, second-half hole in a 100-98 loss to Dodge City on Saturday. He scored 34 of his 42 over the final 18 minutes.
Chavez currently leads the conference in scoring and made 3-pointers.
For the week, Chavez averaged 30.0 points per game, shooting 48 percent from the field and 48 percent from 3-poin trange. Chavez also averaged 7.3 rebounds for the week.
