KJCCC Kansas MTXE D1 Softball Athletes of the Week, Week 8, 2018

Leena Mortensen was a monster at the plate this week as the designated player for the Seward County Lady Saints, finishing the week batting .563 with seven RBI.  Seven of her nine hits in the four games came in the form of doubles.  Her three doubles and two RBI performance against Barton help the Lady Saints clinch a sweep against the Cougars.

Monique Ashley, Seward County, continues her tear through the Jayhawk Conference, pitching two complete shutouts while allowing just four hits and striking out 26 batters in her starts.  She has now struck out at least ten batters in each of her last four starts.  She also picked up her first save of the season, clinching the second game against Barton, striking out the final out. She currently 6-0 in conference play with just nine hits, zero runs against and 66 strikeouts, while allowing an opponent batting average of just .074.
