2022 KJCCC Softball Division I Week 6 Players of the Week

Player: Melanie Castro (Dodge City)

Dodge City softball saw has seen one of the best stretches in a long time as freshman, Melanie Castro is scorching hot at the plate going 11-13 last week with 10 RBI, nine runs scored, three doubles, two triples, two home runs, two walks, and two stolen bases. She went 8-8 in a doubleheader sweep of Garden City on the road finishing with 10 RBI, seven runs scored, three doubles, a triple, and two home runs including an inside the park home run. On the season Castro is hitting .520 with 26 hits, 24 run scored, 19 RBI, five doubles, four triples, two home runs and 11 walks. She is on a seven-game hitting streak with 19 hits during that span.

Pitcher: Allyson Montgomery (Butler)

Allyson Montgomery, the 5-2 freshman right-handed pitcher from Goddard, KS, picked up three of the Grizzlies five wins this week inside the circle putting up some impressive numbers. Montgomery pitched 11 total innings allowing zero earned runs off just seven hits. She walked four and posted 21 total strikeouts. Montgomery is off to a hot start in her true freshman season, now with a record of 5-0, has an ERA of 0.64 and 39 total strikeouts.
