2022 KJCCC Softball Division I Week 9 Players of the Week

Player: Emily Adler (Butler)

Emily Adler, sophomore second baseman from Rose Hill, KS, put up some big numbers offensively for the Grizzlies in their double-header sweep on the road in Garden City Saturday. Adler went 5-6 for an average of .833, at the plate scoring two runs while driving in six on the day. She hit two doubles and a homerun, was waked twice and did not strike out on the day. Adler is hitting .466 this season with 27 RBI's.

Pitcher: Riley Wertz (Hutchinson)

Freshman Riley Wertz continued her strong play out of the bullpen, earning two more victories as Hutchinson swept Barton last Friday. For the week, Wertz pitched 7 1-3 innings of scoreless relief, allowing only one hit and two walks while striking out 12. Wertz had nine strikeouts in 4 2-3 innings in Hutchinson's 8-3 win. For the season, Wertz is now 8-0 with three saves and a 0.63 earned-run average. She has 91 strikeouts on 44 2-3 innings. Wertz is second in the KJCCC in strikeouts.
