Johnson County freshman first baseman Aspen Burhardt had a big week for the Lady Cavaliers, batting .450 (9-for-20) with a double, four home runs, five walks, 10 runs scored, and 12 driven in. One of her homers was a grand slam in a 16-13 win over Iowa Western to open the week. It was her second slam of the season, earning her the distinction of being the only player in team history to have two in a single season. Also, in that game, she had a solo shot and two singles for a 4-for-4 day at the plate. She blasted a three-run shot in a 12-11 win over North Iowa Area and had a two-run homer in a 10-9 win over Kirkwood. Burgardt is batting .472 for the season with 11 doubles, two triples, 11 homers and 36 RBI.

Johnson County freshman right-handed pitcher Maria Unverzagt picked up two victories in the series sweep over Kirkwood last weekend. In the opener, she pitched the final two-thirds of an inning of one-run relief to notch the win, then followed with a complete game 8-1 victory in the second game, where she allowed just one run off seven hits with three strikeouts over seven innings. For the season, Unverzagt is 6-0.
