2024 KJCCC Softball Division I Week 11 Players of the Week

Player of the Week: Alyssa Morgan (Seward County)

Morgan was a consistent force for the Lady Saints over the past week as she helped lead Seward County to a perfect 6-0 week where the freshman short stop went 12/20 at the plate while scoring 11 runs and recording 11 RBIs, 2 2Bs, 1 3B, and 2 HRs. She scored 3 runs in each of the Lady Saints run rule wins over the NW Kansas Tech Mavs and hit two home run bombs in game two against Garden City to help SCCC climb up the KJCCC standings. On the defensive side Morgan was able to record 2 Pos and 19 assists over the six-game stretch as Seward County grabbed three doubleheader sweeps while run ruling their opponents in their final three games of the week.

Pitchers of the Week: Cheyenne Handsaker (Butler) and Dakota Lake (Hutchinson)

Butler's Cheyenne Handsaker threw 11.0 innings in two starts helping the Grizzlies grab two wins while she allowed no earned runs. She struck out 12 while walking two, allowing three hits on the week. In a 2-1 win at Hutch, Handsaker threw 6.0 innings earning the win as she allowed one unearned run on two hits, striking out eight and walking one.

Freshman pitcher Dakota Lake combined for 27 strikeouts in 12.2 innings last week for the Blue Dragons. Pitching in relief in three games and starting one, Lake was 0-1 with a 1.66 ERA. She had a combined 23 strikeouts against Butler – 12 in 4 2-3 innings of relief in Game 1 and 11 in 6.0 innings in a loss in Game 2.
