2024 KJCCC Softball Division II Athletes of the Week, Wk. 11

KJCCC Division II Softball Player of the Week

Savannah Short was nothing short of spectacular in this past 6-0 week for the Blue Devils. The Fort Osage, MO native went 14-of-18 at the plate, drove in 17 runs, scored eight runs, and recorded two doubles and two home runs while batting .778 on the week. She was also perfect in the field, adding three putouts and four assists with no errors. Short is now batting .430 on the season.

KJCCC Division II Softball Pitcher of the Week

Johnson County sophomore right-hand pitcher Maggie McNally picked up a win and a save for the Lady Cavaliers. In the opener at Neosho County, she was called upon to stop the Neosho County Panthers and did just that over 2 2/3 innings of relief. She allowed just one hit, no runs, and struck out three. In the second game, McNally pitched the final inning to preserve a 7-6 win at Neosho County, allowing one hit and no runs with one strikeout. She capped the week with a victory over Independence. McNally pitched four innings, allowing five hits over four innings, allowing just one run with nine strikeouts. For the week, she struck out 13 batters in 7 2/3 innings.
