KJCCC Kansas MTXE Women's Basketball Athletes of the Week, Week 13, 2017-18
Independence Community College beat the #6 ranked Seward County Lady Saints behind the leadership of Alek Akuen Saturday night. In two games this past week, Akuen tallied 32 points, 19 rebounds, and five blocked shots.
Berniezha Tidwell helped the Highland Scotties clinch the KJCCC D2 conference championship by scoring 18 in a big road win at Johnson county and 20 Saturday at home against Hesston College . The sophomore guard was a very efficient 17-24 from the field in the ywo games as well as 3-4 from the 3 point line. Tidwell who is 3rd in the country in total steals contributed 7 steals in the two contests to go along with 5 rebounds and 4 assists. This was the 21st and 22nd time Tidwell has been in double-digit scoring.
