Highland Finishes Regular Season at 30-0

(HCC Athletics) HIGHLAND, Kan, - A perfect undefeated season was earned after a victory over the Fort Scott Greyhounds by the #3 Highland Scotties. The 88-55 win helped close out the regular season with the longest win streak in Highland Community College history.

The first quarter the Scotties held the Greyhounds to just nine points while scoring 22 of their own. Another consistent second quarter of 21 points to the Greyhounds 16 led to a 43-25 lead at the half. Fort Scott's Arkiarra Clark dropped 5-10 three pointers having their best quarter after the half of 19 points but Highland prevailed with the victory.

Sophomore Mariane De Caravalho led the team with her seventh double-double this season scoring 24 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. All five starters knocked down at least one three, the team going 10-35, 28.6% from behind the arc.


Stefania Chiziane was a force off the bench with 13 points and three steals. The Scotties bench trumped the Greyhounds 33 to 15. Sydney Brinlee helped with six rebounds and eight points on the game helping with the teams total of 42. Highland forced Fort Scott to 36 turnovers off of 22 total steals.

With the #1 seed in the KJCCC Div. II and Region VI standings, the women have a bye in the first round of the Region VI games and will host the winner between the KCKCC Blue Devils and the Fort Scott Greyhounds on Saturday with a 1:00 tip-off in the Ben Allen Field House.
