(KJCCC) December 5, 2023 – Northwest Tech wrestler, Lazaro Crespo (184lbs) went 5-1, placing 4th at the Bob Smith Open on Saturday with five of his six matches against NCAA Divsion I & Division II opponents. Crespo is from Cabaiguan, Cuba, and is currently the No. 5 ranked wrestler at his weight class.

In Champ. Round 1, Lazaro won over Kelvin Casasola (Unattached) by Fall (4:12). In Champ. Round 2, Crespo won over Hunter Tobiasson (Adams State) by Decision (6-3). In the Quarterfinal, Crespo lost to Donn Greer (CSU-Pueblo) by Decision (0-1) In Cons. Round 4, Lazaro won over Andrew Wenzel (Air Force) by Sudden Victory (SV-1 6-3). In Cons. Round 5 Crespo won over Matthew Rodriguez (Fort Hays State University) by Fall (2:34). In the Cons. Semifinals, Crespo won over Owen Heiser (Air Force) by Decision (13-6).
