KJCCC Women's Soccer Athletes of the Week, Wk. 4

A hat-trick and a familiar face in goal leads a victory over a nationally ranked opponent highlight this week's KJCCC performances.

Aroa Nieto was a force this past week for the T-Birds, scoring five of Cloud County’s nine goals on the week in a pair of wins that kept CCCC undefeated in the KJCCC West Division. Against Pratt, Nieto would score the first goal of the game to put the T-Birds up 1-0 and would add an insurance goal later on in the first half as part of a 3-1 victory over the Beavers. The Madrid, Spain native would then follow up with a hat trick in a 6-0 win over Garden City to extend her consecutive games scored streak to six.

Sophomore Lexi Winkle wins her 2nd goalkeeper weekly award in the early season appearing in two games this past week. She started and played all 90 minutes in a 1-0 win at #18 Johnson County. Winkle recorded a perfect four saves on four shots on goal. Winkle then came into a 1-1 game vs Coffeyville in the 49th minute. She recorded three saves on three shots on goal and saw the 6th ranked Grizzlies to a 3-1 win and a place at the top of the KJCCC East standings. Winkle is now 7-2-0 on the year while logging 693 minute with a 0.91 GAA.
