KJCCC Women's Soccer Athletes of the Week, Wk. 6

A seven-point effort leading a knocking off a ranked opponent and critical net saves for the West leader highlight our pair of top performances of the week.

Freshman forward Louise Atkinson was the leader for the Red Raven team that went 2-0 on the week including a big home win over #19 ranked KCK. Against KCK, Atkinson provided the offense scoring 3 goals and providing an assist in the 5-3 victory. Atkinson continued her outstanding play scoring 2 goals against Neosho in a 4-0 victory over the weekend. For the week, Atkinson had a total of 5 goals and an assist for 11 pts.

Thaynara Soares would make key saves at crucial moments in the game as Cloud County would earn a 2-1 win over Hutchinson Community College to go into the driver’s seat in the KJCCC West Division. After allowing a goal to the Blue Dragons on the first shot on goal of the game, Soares would turn away the next three shots she faced as Cloud County would come back to win. Soares would then play the first half in a 6-0 win against Hesston, helping CCCC earn a shutout for the third time in four games.
