KJCCC Women's Soccer Athletes of the Week, Wk. 9

Clinching a division title and registering a pari of road wins highlight's this week's performances of the week.

Franciele Cupertino’s first KJCCC player of the week award comes as the sophomore help Cloud County clinch an outright Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference West Division Title with a pair of wins over Barton and Hutchinson to close out the 2019 regular-season. Scoring the game-winning goal with 45 seconds left in the first half against Barton on Wednesday, Cupertino would follow up her performance by scoring the game-tying goal against Hutchinson Community College early in the second half and later assist on a goal that helped put the game away for the #18 T-Birds. Cloud County has now won 14 straight matches, and finished the KJCCC slate as the only unbeaten team in conference play from either division.

Freshman goalkeeper Olivia Ways wins her second KJCCC goalkeeper of the week behind two road victories last week in stopping eight of the nine shots she faced. In a 2-1 win at Coffeyville, Ways stopped six of seven shots. She capped with the week two first half saves and a shared shutout in an 8-0 win at Neosho County. With her solid week, Ways lowered her goals against average to 1.14, and increased her save percentage to .824. Both of those marks rank fourth among conference goalkeepers.
