2023-24 All-KJCCC/Region 6 Division II Women's Soccer Selections Announced

2023 ALL-KJCCC/REGION 6 DIVISION II WOMEN'S SOCCER SELECTIONS

The 2023-24 KJCCC/Region 6 Division I post-season selections are led by Coach of the Year Elliot Chadderton of Neosho County, with Panther freshman Olivia Gibson named Offensive Player of the Year. Johson County's freshman Montana-Rose Currey was name Defensive Player of the Year. 

COACH OF THE YEAR - Elliot Chadderton (Neosho County)

Coach Elliot Chadderton lead not one, but two historic seasons this year being named the Coach of the Year honor for both men's and women's soccer. Having lead his team through the transition from KJCCC/Region 6 Division I to Division II this season.

The transition payed off with the Panthers winning their first regular season KJCCC conference championship, being ranked as high as #14 in the national poll, and only one loss throughout the entire season. 

Under coach Chadderton's leadership the team finished 13-1-3 overall and 7-1-2 in conference play during the 2023-24 season. 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Olivia Gibson (Neosho County)

Neosho County freshman Olivia Gibson was named Offensive Player of the Year after her inagural season in the KJCCC/Region 6 Division II. 

This season Gibson scored 20 goals with 11 assists with eight of those goals being game winners. Gibson was tied for fourteenth in overall scoring throughout the season in the NJCAA Division II. 

Gibson's season highs came against Hesston College on October 18 with a hat trick and with four assists against Crowder College on October 21. 

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Montana-Rose Currey (Johnson County)

Montana-Rose Currey was named Defensive Player of the Year after playing a big role in her teams success this season. The Cavaliers finished the season winning the Region 6 championship the programs first since 2009. After losing the Plains District Championship the team recieved an at-large bid to the NJCAA Division II Women's Soccer national tournament. Johnson County advanced to the championship game and finished national runner-up in their first season in the NJCAA Divison II. 

With Currey's success on the defensive side she assisted her team to 13 shutouts and a goals against average of 0.78. Currey also scored five goals throughout the seaon with one assist in 23 games played.
