2023 KJCCC Women's Soccer Division I Athletes of the Week, Wk. 9

Player:  Sakiko Manabe (Butler)

Manabe scored four goals across two games last week, helping the Grizzlies go 2-0. She now leads Butler with eight goals this season. Butler took down #16 Cowley 3-2 on the road before earning their first home win, beating Garden City 5-1 on Saturday. Manabe scored twice in the win over the 16th-ranked Tigers as she scored the game's first and last goals. Her goal in the 87th minute proved to be the decider as she helped Butler pick up the ranked road win. She totaled four shots, three shots on goal and the aforementioned two goals. Manabe followed up the impressive performance with two more goals on Saturday to defeat the Broncbusters. Both goals came in the second half, about seven minutes apart. She helped Butler win its second straight game as they scored the most they have in a half all season, with four goals in the second half.
