2023 KJCCC Women's Soccer Division I Athletes of the Week, Wk. 10

Player: Emma Kolbe (Butler)

Emma Kolbe, a sophomore Mulvane native, played a big role in Butler's 2-0 week last week as they closed the regular season out. On Wednesday, Butler defeated Seward 5-1 as Kolbe netted an unassisted goal to put the Grizzlies ahead 2-0 in the first half. In the season finale that served as sophomore day and Kolbe's last home game as a Grizzly, Kolbe was responsible for five points as she scored a goal and assisted on three others, a career-high.

Goalkeeper: Mio Tanaka (Barton)

Freshman goalkeeper Mio Tanaka picked up a win and big road result helping the 7th ranked Cougars to a 1-1 week. Surrendering a ping-ponged header goal off a corner kick, Tanaka kept the sheet clean on five more attempts for the remaining 85 minutes at 17th ranked Cowley in helping Barton pull out the big draw result all but clinching the Cougars' share of the conference title. On Saturday Tanaka faced just two shots between the pipes as Garden City's quick counter mid-way through the second half providing the lone goal against.
