Lady Saints 10th in Opening ITA Rankings

(Seward County Sports Information)  On the heels of their best season in school history, the Seward County Lady Saints will open the 2015-2016 ranked #10 in the country, so says the first ITA/NJCAA rankings of the year. 

The Lady Saints check in at #10 in the rankings, behind a host of traditional powers including ASA, Tyler, and Seminole State at the top and Jayhawk rival Cowley who is in at #7. 

Individually, Seward had a pair of players make their way into the rankings.  Mialiniaina Rakotondrazafy was the top ranked Lady Saint, coming in at #15 in the opening rankings.  Rakotondrazafy finished the fall for the Lady Saints 5-9 overall, going 5-7 in #1 tournament play and 0-2 in #2 action.  Behind Rakotondrazafy in the rankings was teammate Nthabi Mogopodi.  Mogopodi is ranked 28th in singles to start the year after posting a 7-5 record in her first fall for Seward, playing across four different spots from #1 to #5. 

In the doubles rankings, Seward found one of their pairs in the fold.  Maminiaina Rakotondrazafy and Mogopodi squeaked their way into the final spot of the top 25 despite an 0-4 record in fall matches together. 

A young Lady Saints team will look to prove their ranking true when they open the season February 26th and 27th in Dallas, Texas when they take part in the Dallas Duals.
