KJCCC Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week – Outdoor Week 3

Outdoor track and field season continues and the week three of KJCCC Athletes of the Week honors have been awarded. 

WOMEN'S TRACK Athlete of the Week
Damazvia Dames (Fort Scott) – She ran a time of 23.78 in the 200-meter dash at the Texas Relays giving her the #1 time in the NJCAA and breaking the school record. She also competed in the 100-meter dash (11.76) and the 4x100-meter relay that place seventh out of 30 teams, a group that mainly consisted of NCAA DI programs. 

WOMEN'S FIELD Athlete of the Week
Vanessa Mercera (Cloud County) – She won the heptathlon with 4,792 points at the Friends Spring Invite winning the competition by nearly 1,000 points. She currently ranks #1 in the NJCAA in the heptathlon. She also posted a 56 split as part of the Thunderbirds first place 4x400-meter relay team at the meet.
