KJCCC Division II Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week

Sophmore Milica Kusmuk continued her strong start to the season by recording double-doubles in all three of the Lady Tigers’ matches. Kusmuk had 18 kills, 10 digs and hit .533 in a road win against KJCCC DII foe Fort Scott. She also recorded double-doubles in wins over NJCAA DI opponents McCook Community College and Ranger College. Kusmuk led Cowley in kills and kills per set as the Lady Tigers went 3-0 on the week. In the process, she passed the 600 career kills mark placing her 13th in Cowley history in kills in a career with 615.

KJCCC Division II Volleyball Setter of the Week

Katie Pearson continues to run the offense for the Scotties leading her team to a 4-1 record for week two and an impressive 8-1 record overall. She totaled 178 assists and averaged 11.1 assists per set for the week. Pearson currently leads the KJCCC in total assists with 364 and is fifth in the NJCAA. She is also sitting in the No. 7 spot nationally for assists per set. Not only did Pearson lead her team to a 4-0 sweep at their own tournament, including wins over No. 9-ranked Iowa Central and No. 14-ranked NEO, but with 28 assists against top-ranked Coffeyville, she also etched her name into the HCC volleyball record books earning the top spot in total career assists with a current total of 1,797.

KJCCC Division II Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week

After making the move to libero, Myla Turner has proven to be a constant threat in the backrow for the Scotties.  The Pittsburg native has totaled 115 digs thus far with 78 of those coming in week two. With high energy and a strong court awareness, Turner helped her team to an impressive 4-0 sweep at their home tournament. She even had a career high 26 digs in the 3-0 sweep over No. 9-ranked Iowa Central. Turner also finished the week with impressive serve receives tallying only one error.
