KJCCC Division II Volleyball Athletes of the Week, Wk. 7

Week 7 KJCCC Division II Volleyball Players of the Week:
Offense - Iva Halacheva, Cowley
Setter - Kellyn Lipasek, Highland
Defensive Player - Alejandra Delgado, Cowley

PLAYER - Iva Halacheva, Cowley
Iva Halacheva displayed an all around game with her averaging 4.50 kills per set while hitting .328 and having a kill percentage of 47% (means 47% of her swings was a kill on the week), 72 total kills, 22 total digs, averaged 1.38 digs per set, added 12 service aces and 3 blocks. Recorded her first collegiate double-double on her .442 attack against #RV Bismarck State with 23 kills and 10 digs, to go along with, a block, assist, and two service aces.

SETTER - Kellyn Lipasek, Highland
It was a week packed full of top notch opponents for the Highland volleyball team and the Scotties put together a 3-2 week including a 3-1 showing at the DMACC Tournament. Freshman Kellyn Lipasek had her second and third 50+ assists matches both coming in big four set wins over Rochester and Kirkwood. Lipasek posted her third and fourth double-doubles of the season finishing with 50 assists and 12 digs (career high) against Rochester and followed that up with a 51 assists and 10 digs performance against Kirkwood. She went over 30 assists in the matchup against Fort Scott and DMACC adding seven digs in each match and tallied nine kills over the five matches last week. On the season Lipasek has 935 assists good for 10.05 assists per set numbers that rank fourth and fifth in the Nation at the NJCAA Division II level. Kellyn added 46 kills, 18 aces, 190 digs and seven blocks on the season.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER - Alejandra Delgado, Cowley
Sophomore libero Alejandra Delgado had another great week in anchoring the Tigers defensive line to five victories this past week.  Averaging 5.63 digs per set, Delgado recorded her first 30-dig match in a 3-1 win over receiving votes Bismarck State.  An umblemished receiving stat line, Delgado had a 2.63 passer rating and also gave the Tigers thirteen service points in moving into third place all-time on the Cowley program career chart.
