2023 KJCCC Volleyball Division I Athletes of the Week - Week 2

Offensive Player: Celia Mbaya (Colby)
Freshman Outside Hitter, Celia Mbaya, from Saint Brieuc, France continued to Colby's second weekend at a tournament in Casper, Wyoming, leading the team offensively once again.  Mbaya had 66 kills over 15 sets, averaging 4.4 kills per set.  Mbaya tallied another 11 aces, one more than the previous weekend, and had 55 digs.  She had four double-doubles and had a personal best of 19 kills against Casper College. She ranks fourth in the nation in aces (21), fifth in kills (113), ninth in kills per set (4.19).

Setter: Sierra Scanlan (Dodge City) 
Dodge City volleyball put together a strong weekend to put together a win streak as they went 3-0 at the Otero Invitational. Sierra Scanlan took on the primary setter role this week and was the maestro of the Conquistador offense. She had a big double-double in the Conqs win over Eastern Wyoming recording 54 assists with 10 digs, while adding eight kills, three blocks, and four aces. To open the tournament against Otero, she tallied 41 assists with five digs, six kills, one ace, and one block and against Eastern Wyoming Scanlan posted 40 assists, three kills, 11 digs, two blocks, and four aces. On the season Scanlan has played in all seven matches for the Conqs posting 140 assists, 54 kills, 13 aces, 67 digs, and seven blocks.

Defensive Player: Leisey Keli'i (Dodge City)
Dodge City volleyball put together a strong weekend to put together a win streak as they went 3-0 at the Otero Invitational. Anchoring the defense for the Conquistadors was libero, Leisey Keil'i as she amassed 47 digs over the tournament and was strong on the serve receive with only three errors in 83 attempts. Keil'i had her best dig performance of the season with 21 in the win over Eastern Wyoming and had 13 digs in each match against Otero and North Platte. She added seven aces over the course of the tournament with five against the host Otero. On the season she has totaled 172 digs, while adding a team best 16 aces playing in all seven matches.
