2023 KJCCC Volleyball Division I Athletes of the Week - Week 4

Offensive Player: Tess De Zanet (Dodge City)
Dodge City volleyball picked up some big wins last week dispatching #20 Barton in three sets to earn the first KJCCC win of the season, while also going 2-2 at the Northeastern Tournament where they avenged early season losses to Iowa Western and Western Nebraska. Tess De Zanet had a pair of monster 20+ kill performances including a career-high 25 kills versus Snow and 21 kills with 11 digs in a big win over Barton, as she hit over .320 in four of five matches last week. On the week in five matches she had 81 kills on a .262 hitting percentage adding nine blocks, 37 digs, an ace, and one assist. 

On the season De Zanet has 185 kills with 19 aces, four assists, 102 digs, and 25 blocks. She ranks 20th in the nation in total kills.

Setter: Anna Gazzerro (Colby)
Colby setter Anna Gazzerro continues to run a 5-1 offense, helping lead Colby to a 3-2 week, opening the week up with a three-set conference win vs. Pratt and their losses being to #4 NMJC and #5 Odessa in Hobbs, New Mexico. Through the 17 sets, Gazzerro had 178 assists, averaging 10.47 per set. Gazzerro tied her career high in assists from her freshman year with 54 against Ranger.  After the weekend, Anna is fourth in the NJCAA for total assists with 582 and she's tied for third in assists per set with 11.19.

Defensive Player: Lily Pichon (Colby)
Colby libero, Lily Pichon, continued to lead the back row last week with a conference road win versus Pratt and then going 2-2 in Hobbs, New Mexico with only losses coming to #4 New Mexico JC and #5 Odessa. Over 17 sets, Pichon had 99 digs, averaging 5.82 digs per set. Recording double-digit digs in all 5 matches this week, she had two 20+ dig games in the Trojans five-set win over Ranger with 34 digs and had 22 against #4 New Mexico JC.
