2023 KJCCC Volleyball Division I Athletes of the Week - Week 11

Offensive Player: Celia Mbaya (Colby)
Celia Mbaya, freshman outside hitter from France, helped Colby to a 2-0 week with 2 five set wins against Barton and Dodge City, helping Colby secure a share of 2nd place in the conference.  Against first place Barton, Mbaya tallied 21 kills on 50 attempts, hitting a .240, had her personal best of 26 digs, and added a block assist, 2 assists, and 5 aces.  In their road match vs. Dodge City, Mbaya had her personal best of 27 kills on 61 attempts, hitting a .246 and she added 2 block assists, 8 digs, and 2 assists.  Mbaya had a total of 48 kills for the week, averaging 4.8 per set, and hitting a .242 for the week. This week Mbaya also marked her 14th double-double of the season vs. Barton.

Setter: Anna Gazzerro (Colby)
Anna Gazzerro, sophomore setter from Italy, helped Colby to a 2-0 week with 2 five set wins against Barton and Dodge City, helping Colby secure a share of 2nd place in the conference.  Against first place Barton, Gazzerro had 53 assists, averaging 10.6 per set.  She added 3 kills, 2 block assists, her personal best of 22 digs, and one ace.  She also reached her 1000th assists of the season vs. the Cougars.  In the Trojans win against Dodge City, she had 43 assists, averaging 8.6 per set, and added 3 kills, 2 block assists, 14 digs, and 4 aces.  She is 2nd in the KJCCC and 6th in the NJCAA for assists per set and is 3rd in the KJCCC for aces per set.

Defensive Player: Lily Pichon (Colby)
Lily Pichon, sophomore libero from France, helped Colby to a 2-0 week with 2 five set wins against Barton and Dodge City, helping Colby secure a share of 2nd place in the conference.  Pichon had another stellar defensive week, tallying 29 digs in the match vs. first place Barton, and 29 digs in the match vs. Dodge City.  Lily averaged 5.8 digs per set.  She also added 2 service aces this week.  Pichon is ranked 1st in the KJCCC for digs per set and 2nd in the NJCAA.  She's also ranked 3rd in the KJCCC and 5th in the NJCAA for total digs.
