Grizzlies Finish 2-2 at Salt Lake CC Tournament

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah – Butler volleyball completed its stay in Utah on Friday and Saturday going 2-2 at Salt Lake CC's Crystal "Inn"vitational.

The Grizzlies played three nationally ranked opponents in No. 4 Salt Lake, No. 13 Southern Idaho and No. 11 Utah State Eastern, picking up a win over Southern Idaho.

Sophomore setter Anja Milosevic was named to the All-Tournament team.

Butler returns to action on Wednesday facing another nationally ranked opponent in No. 17 Barton on the road in Great Bend at 6:30 p.m.

Butler 3, North Idaho 0 (29-27, 25-16, 25-22)

The Grizzlies started the tournament off hot sweeping North Idaho College 3-0. Sarah Sullivan led the offensive charge with 15 kills on .400 hitting also adding four digs. Milosevic had 22 assists and six digs, Laynee Brown had 11 digs and Raven Boone added seven kills and five blocks.

No. 4 Salt Lake CC 3, Butler 0 (17-25, 12-25, 19-25)

The Grizzlies struggled against the host school Salt Lake in the second match on Friday. The No. 4 Bruins hit .313 and held the Grizzlies to -.043 hitting in the three-set match.

Avery DeLong paced Butler with five kills also adding four digs. Milosevic had 19 assists and two kills.

Butler 3, No. 13 Southern Idaho 0 (27-25, 25-14, 25-20)

Butler picked up its second ranked win of the season sweeping No. 13 Southern Idaho on Saturday morning.

DeLong led offensively with nine kills while Boone and Sullivan had eight each. Sophia Neihouse landed six kills on 10 attempts. Milosevic finished with a double-double of 24 assists and 12 digs.

No. 11 Utah State Eastern 3, Butler 0 (23-25, 27-25, 21-25, 20-25)

Four Grizzlies landed double-digit kills but Butler fell in four sets to No. 11 Utah State Eastern in the final match of the tournament.

Avery DeLong (11), Ryann Hamilton (10), Sarah Sullivan (10) and Sophia Neihouse (13) each finished with 10 or more kills with Hamilton hitting a team-high .529. Milosevic had 34 assists, five digs and four aces. Raven Boone finished with a team-high eight blocks.

Butler kept it close throughout, not losing a set by more than five.
