After a sluggish start, the Scottie women bounced back and got win number 14 on the year defeating Central Community College- Columbus 92-49 in Day One of the Southeast CC Classic.
The Highland offense struggled to find the basket in the first, only scoring ten points through the first eight minutes. They started making shots late and led 19-9 after the first ten minutes of play.
Highland pieced together a 22-4 run the last five minutes of the second quarter to take a 40-18 lead into the locker room.
After building a 31-point lead early in the third, foul trouble and turnovers gave the Raiders an opportunity to climb back into the game as they won the quarter 17-15 to trail by just 20 heading into the fourth.
Highland controlled the final ten minutes of the game out scoring the Raiders 37-14 to win the game 92-49 and remain unbeaten.
Niccolly Ramalho led all scorers on the day finishing with 16 points. She also dished out five assists, grabbed three rebounds and had three steal.
Kamryn Lemon chipped in 15 points and six assists from the point guard position while
Mariane De Caravalho finished with 13 points, eight rebounds, three steals and two blocks.
Keondra White and
Sydney Brinlee both finished the game with 10 points each.
Highland outrebounded the Raiders 38-33 and pulled down 19 offensive boards in the game. the Scottie defense forced 26 Raider turnovers and had 20 steals, scoring 40 points off of turnovers.
Highland will be back in Beatrice, NE Saturday, to take on the Storm in Day Two of the Southeast CC Classic.
