Highland Volleyball Falls to Indian Hills

Box Score After a strong KJCCC win on Wednesday the Highland volleyball team wrapped up the home portion of their 2019 season on Friday hosting a non-conference contest with Indian Hills who is ranked #7 in NJCAA Division I.

While the #10 Scotties gave Indian Hills a run for their money it was ultimate a three set win for Indian Hills on the day (13-25, 22-25, 19-25).

After trading the first few points in the first set Highland saw Indian Hills put together a run to take control of the set and the Scotties were unable to comeback falling 13-25 in the first set. The second set was entirely different as the Scotties took a 5-4 lead and then pushed it up to 9-5 on an ace leading to an Indian Hills timeout. Highland continued to hold off Indian Hills throughout the set until the set was knotted up at 19-19 and Indian Hills swung the lead to their side late in the set as Scotties fell 22-25 in the second set.

Set three opened up with a skullcrushing hit by Nicole Franco and was tight early until Indian Hills had a 9-0 run to take control and the Scotties fell 19-25 in the third set, dropping the match.
Cajia Allen paced the Scotties with her 20th match this season with double figure kills notching 11, while adding six digs which moved her into fifth all-time in school history in career digs. Amber Hildebrand made it seven straight matches with double figure digs posting 10, while Franco had a solid day with eight kills, seven digs, an assist and ace. Kellyn Lipasek registered 24 assists and six digs in the match.

The loss moves the Scotties to 27-8 on the season with one regular season contest left as the Scotties travel to Chanute, Kansas to play Neosho County for a KJCCC contest at 6:30pm with the game having importance on postseason seeding. (Game will be live streamed on the Scotties Sports Network)
