Blue Devils Split with Division I Jefferson College

The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team split against the Jefferson College Vikings with a game 1 loss, 5-2 and game two win, 4-1. With those results, the Blue Devils are now 10-8 on the season. They have played three Division I colleges and three Division II ranked teams, totaling for five games. (No.14 North Iowa Area x3, No.12 Kirkwood x2)

In the first game, Sydney Becker was able to tally her first homerun on the season in the fifth inning and went 2-4 from the plate with one RBI. The other RBI came from Abryelle Hill in the fifth inning, scoring Paige Smith. Ashton Russell went 1-2 with a double while getting walked two times.

Hanna Acree threw for 4.1 innings while letting in four runs from the seven Viking hits. Acree walked and struck out one batter each. Kinlei Boley threw for the remaining 2.2 innings and let up just one run from one hit, one walk and three strikeouts.

In game two, Boley had an impressive time at the plate going 3-3 while adding two RBIs. Kylie Vandervoort added two hits in her three plate appearances. Becker went 1-3 and had a double to help the Blue Devil offense.  

Alyssa Droge went the distance and let in just one run while allowing six hits. Droge struck out four of the 27 batters she faced and is now averaging 7.2 strikeouts per game.

The next series for the Blue Devils is March 21 as they take on Metropolitan Community College at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at the KCKCC softball field.
