NIACC falls to Barton CC, 10-9
- NIACC pounds out season-high 15 hits
- Harms goes 5 for 5, including home run
GREAT BEND, Kan. - The NIACC baseball team dropped a 10-9 decision to Barton CC on Saturday in the final game of a three-game series.
Barton CC won two games on Saturday (6-0 and 15-5).
In Saturday's game, NIACC took a 9-8 lead with a single run in the top of the ninth inning, but Barton CC responded with two runs in its half of the ninth frame to claim the walk-off victory.
Preston Golden (2-0) gained the win in relief for Barton CC (11-4). Golden allowed one run on two hits in throwing the ninth inning.
Sam Cooper (0-2) took the loss in relief for the Trojans. Cooper allowed two runs on one hit with two walks and one strikeout in one inning of work.
NIACC (5-9) pounded out a season-high 15 hits, including four doubles and two home runs, on Saturday against Barton CC. The Trojans received home runs from Isaac Huettl and Charlie Harms and doubles from Huettl, Alex Matchey, Caden Sammler and Will Couchman.
Harms was 5 for 5 with four RBIs. Huettle drove in three runs.
Harms was the first Trojan to collect five hits in a game since Adam Berghult had five hits against Marshalltown CC on April 8, 2023. Harms is the 10th NIACC player since 2013 to collect five hits in a single game.
NIACC returns to action at Parkland College with a three-game series March 8-9.
